Netomnia and CityFibre have joined forces bringing more choice to Chatteris with each offering internet packages.
I must admit to being surprised that CityFibre were installing their own infrastructure, piggy- backed onto Netomnia’s backbone due to the wide coverage of other competitors, such as:
- BT Openreach
- Virgin Media
- Netomnia / Youfibre
It too early to see the exact scope of CityFibre’s installation works, certainly areas like ‘The Elms’ need looking at due to direct buried phone service cables, rather than ducted or overhead.
Not sure how much room will be left at the top of this pole in Wood Street after CityFibre have fitted there kit.
I took a walk back the next day (18 March 25) to where they were working in Wood Street and noticed a CityFibre embossed ‘Toby’.
The significance of the ‘Toby’ is that Netomnia seem to only provide a service using either or overhead cables from poles or using existing BT ducts to your house, this means houses which have no local poles or that have telephone cables ‘directly buried’ in the ground, can’t get a Netomina provided service from Youfibre.
Areas such as parts of the ‘The Elms’ use the above method, however, If CityFibre are installing ‘Toby’ boxes like Virgin Media did, this means that more choice will be available hopefully.
